The Victoria Tamil Senior Citizens Benevolent Society (VTSCBS) is one of the premier group for Tamil seniors in Victoria that strives to promote social, cultural and educational interests of the Tamil Seniors.  In addition, VTSCBS shall help promote and retain Tamil language and cultural traditions as essential components of multiculturalism in Victoria.  

The Association was formed in March 2014 and registered as a not for profit organisation.  Membership is open to Permanent Residents or Citizens of Victoria, males over 55 years and women over 50 years of age.

The members meet every second Saturday at the Waverley Community Centre, 700 Waverley Street, Glen Waverley for regular socialisation of seniors who are otherwise isolated and lonely, and conduct Yohasanam and computer classes, reminiscence on their past, discuss current and future events, listen to presentation / talks delivered by professionals on subjects relating to medical, social, migration, literary etc. The meeting concludes with a lunch.

The association celebrates the Christmas, Thai Pongal, Deepavali annual events in grand scale.

The Victoria Tamil Senior Citizens Benevolent Society (VTSCBS) was established in March 2014, registered as a not for profit organisation, with a membership of just 19 seniors. Membership is open to any citizen or permanent resident of
Australia, who is a resident of Victoria and males over 55 years and women over 50 years of age.

 
Objectives...
 
The primary objects of the VTSCBS are to work in the interest of senior citizens, carry out cultural, educational, benevolent, social and recreational activities for their benefit, improve their quality of life, generate fellowship among seniors and other ethnic groups, and promote the language and culture of the Tamils.

 
Activities...
 
The members meet every second Saturday at the Waverley Community Centre, 700 Waverley Street, Glen Waverley for regular socialisation with other like minded seniors.  Spiritual talks are delivered and meditation is conducted by Brhamakumaries organisation each month.  Yohasanam and computer classes are conducted regularly under the supervision of experienced instructors.  Presentations are delivered by specialists in various branches of medicine, experts in various other subjects and departmental employees dealing with matters relating to seniors.  Many Tamil cultural events and Hindu and Christian religious events are celebrated.  The association celebrates the Christmas, Thai Pongal, Deepavali annual events in grand scale.  Seniors participate in indoor games, such as chess and scrabble. Excursions are organized by the Association for seniors to explore new places and experiance different cultures and food.  Seniors, who are skilled in painting, knitting, patchwork etc, teach their skills to other seniors.
